Barton Cowperthwaite - STARRING IN NETFLIX'S "TINY PRETTY THINGS!"
began dancing and training in the 7th grade at Off Broadway Academy of Dance under Brian Young. In his sophomore year of high school Barton began dancing and training in the Competition Program at Academy of Colorado Ballet where his mentor, Brian Young, was the director. Barton also attended Denver School of the Arts where he graduated as a dance major in 2010. Throughout his amateur dancing career Barton’s talent and dedication yielded many results including a nationally ranked Title Award at West Coast Dance Explosion’s National Finals 2010. He has been featured in both Dance Spirit, Pointe, and Dance Teacher magazines. Barton is currently a dance major at The University of Arizona (Tucson) where he holds one of the school’s largest scholarships. Barton aspires to do many great things. “Brian has been my teacher, my idol, and my friend ever since I began dancing. I love him and I’m am proud to call myself a Brian Young/Sweatshop Alumni!” Since he wrote this short bio, Barton graduated from University of Arizona and began working immediately. Barton went straight into the leading role, "Romeo," in Bad Boys of Dance's Romeo and Juliet world tour. Barton currently dances principal roles as the youngest member of the world renowned Lar Lubovitch Dance Company in New York City, NY, recently completed the national tour of Travis Wall's Shaping Sound: Behind the Curtain, following having danced and performed leading roles in the first national tour of An American in Paris. You might recognize Barton from his starring role as Damon in the Lifetime original movie Center Stage: On Pointe, or as a principal dancer in Lindsay Nelko's Awakening The Show. Barton continues to freelance as a professional dancer with Pontus Lidberg Dance, works as a professional model (Capezio, Gap, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and more), and is currently anticipating the upcoming debut of a world-premier pas de deux with his other half, New York City Ballet principal dancer, Lauren Lovette.
